Bay Marine Salvage & Services, Ltd. is a family owned marine services corporation, founded in 1997 and dedicated to providing high quality, timely marine services to the Saginaw Bay boating community.
Jim & Sara Moore
Jim and Sara started Bay Marine in 1997. Jim, the impetus and brains behind our on water operations, holds a 100 ton masters and unlimited AB ticket and has been boating in the Saginaw Bay since he was in diapers. He has extensive experience over the past 30 years on a wide variety of of vessels while in the merchants and as a captain for hire. Sara spent time in the engine department as a QMED in the merchants and holds a 50 ton masters.
Gary holds a 100 ton masters and brings 50 years of experience to our fleet. Gary owned and operated the Bay City TowBoatU.S. port for 10 years prior to our purchasing it from him in 2015. We are lucky that Gary chose to stay on and help us out!
Gerry holds a 50 ton masters and brings 45 years of boating experience both motor and sail to our fleet. In his off time he is a ski instructor and brings his teaching skills to the boats for our less experienced staff.
Larry holds a 50 ton masters and brings 50 years of Saginaw Bay experience to the fleet, including charter fishing as well a towing. Larry is also an accomplished photographer and web designer.
Kate, a Senior at SVSU studying education, helps out with the family business as much as she can on the boats and with the many office and organizational tasks. She earned her 50 ton masters in October 2017.
Mel holds a 50 ton masters and grew up on the waters around the thumb. Mel enjoys all things mechanical and is quite a hand with a wrench. Her "day job" is as the owner of dog grooming salon.
Rob holds a 25 ton masters and hails from the Caseville area. He has been boating and diving the outer Saginaw Bay and thumb shoreline for many years. You are most likely to see him on our Caseville or Port Austin tow boats.
Everett graduated high school in 2016. He works primarily with docks and hoists as well as heavy equipment, when helping with the family business, but he is a great deck hand when called upon. Everett hopes to become an electrician.
